After removing the water-hungry Kentucky bluegrass sod in this front yard, we incorporated low-water perennial plantings, shrubs and evergreens to create interest during all seasons and provide a habitat for pollinators. We bermed up different areas to create different heights in the flat yard, and installed a dry stream bed to serve as a functional drainage swale while providing different sizes and textures of rock and boulders.
